- Orchard yield is the least predictable number in cider. Frost at blossom, a dry summer, and biennial bearing can each halve a crop, and several cider cultivars bear heavily only in alternate years.
- A traditional standard orchard yields a fraction of what a bush orchard does per hectare, and is planted for reasons — longevity, landscape, habitat — that a yield figure does not capture.
- These figures are planning estimates, not a forecast for any particular orchard.
